Hot This Week: August 31

The Sofia Vergara/Reese Witherspoon action comedy Hot Pursuit takes over the top spot on the movie listing from Insurgent, which remains solid at #2. The success of the movie of the same name has pushed N.W.A.'s debut album Straight Outta Compton onto the charts 27 years after its 1988 release. New thrillers from Sandra Brown and Jonathan Kellerman debut on the fiction list, while  non-fiction just sees a shuffling of popular favorites.

Hot This Week: August 24

Insurgent holds onto the top spot in movies for a second week, while the Nicholas Sparks novel adaptation The Longest Ride makes its debut at #2. It was a big week for new music, with the top four spots on the chart being occupied by new albums, including one from Luke Bryan and a long-awaited new disc from rap legend Dr. Dre. The usual suspects stay strong at the top of the fiction list, with new titles from Debbie Macomber and Jennifer Weiner popping in as well. It's a similar story in non-fiction, with the memoir by Felicia Day being the top newcomer at #3.

The new comedy from Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell, Get Hard, makes its debut atop this week's movie listing. Four new titles grace the music chart, led by Woman, the latest album from gold-selling Grammy Award winner Jill Scott. Go Set a Watchman remains the top fiction title, joined again by Paula Hawkins and Anthony Doerr to make a formidable trio at the top, but new titles from Paula McLain and C.J. Box make it onto the list just behind them.

The first week of August sees the movie list remain largely the same, with the Robert Duvall feature Wild Horses being the only newcomer at #9. The music chart, on the other hand, lists four new releases, including rapper Future at the very top.
