Hot This Week: August 31

The Sofia Vergara/Reese Witherspoon action comedy Hot Pursuit takes over the top spot on the movie listing from Insurgent, which remains solid at #2. The success of the movie of the same name has pushed N.W.A.'s debut album Straight Outta Compton onto the charts 27 years after its 1988 release. Insurgent holds onto the top spot in movies for a second week, while the Nicholas Sparks novel adaptation The Longest Ride makes its debut at #2. It was a big week for new music, with the top four spots on the chart being occupied by new albums, including one from Luke Bryan and a long-awaited new disc from rap legend Dr. Dre. The usual suspects stay strong at the top of the fiction list, with new titles from Debbie Macomber and Jennifer Weiner popping in as well.
